On February 18, 2015, Golden Dawn Lodge No. 66 held a Special Communication in their new Lodge Building to initiate their first Master Mason since they changed their name from Burns Lodge No. 66. Masons from the surrounding area joined the brethren to make a piece of history by raising their first candidate in the unfinished Temple.
The Lodge is mostly completed, but some work remains downstairs, the upstairs hallways and outside, but the brethren were able to perform this degree in their present condition. There is an impressive lighting display which is run by their Lodge Electrician via an iPad. It adds much to the work and is highly recommended for those to come visit and witness it at some point.
Although there was a flu bug going around which caused five cancellations that day, by working together the Lodge did perform this degree in its entirety with a full History. Lodge opened at 5:00 p.m. and was closed before 9:00 p.m. A spaghetti dinner was enjoyed by all after the completion of the first section.
Attached are a couple photos of the event. One is of Master, Worshipful Brother Dale Sollars and his candidate, Brother Michael W. Carbonneau, Jr., new Master Mason. The second is a group photo taken by all present that snowy and cold evening. Visiting with us were a couple Brothers from Vermont, including their Grand Lecturer, Right Worshipful Brother Jim Stevens.
