On December 11th to the 13th, 2015, Franklin Lodge No. 6 in Lebanon transformed their lodge into a Winter Wonderland.
The Brethren decorated the room with 15 Christmas trees ranging in size from 2 feet to 10 feet. There was a Polar Express train with conductor amazing the kids with horns and steam as it made its way around the tracks. There were 3 New England villages set up with 2 of them within the confines of the polar express. The other village featured a town park in the center with a giant ceramic Christmas tree. There were displays of young children skating and skiing along the outskirts of the villages. There were reindeer feeding on hay among the trees upon the starry-decked heaven above them.
Best of all was the enjoyment on the faces of the young children as Mr. & Mrs. Claus were seated in the East around a fireplace. Each child received a small gift from the jolly folks as they told their wishes for Christmas. As they left everyone was treated to hot chocolate and goodies with angels dancing on the ceiling above them. Santa greeted over 100 young children.
Plans are under way for next year and the City of Lebanon wants Franklin Lodge to tie this event in with the lighting of the lights on the park. Overall, it was a winning weekend. Please watch for information for next year’s event!
