On Sunday, April 27, 2014 Blazing Star Eureka Lodge in Concord treated friends, family and Brethren to the Annual Veteran’s Program and dinner. Worshipful Brother Mark Kilmister, the Lodge’s Secretary, was on hand to receive his 25th year pin. Other notables were Worshipful Brother Richard Melvin, the Lodge’s Deputy Treasurer, who received his 40th year pin. Some of the highlights of the day were during the 50 and 60 year presentations. Brother Cedric Dustin, Jr., who just had a Scottish Rite Candidate’s class named after him this year, was presented his 60 year pin by Most Worshipful Brother Stew Aronson.
The Grand Master also presented a 60 year pin to Brother Roger Tasker’s son, who received the honor in his place. Brother Leo Degreenia, Jr. and Brother Richard Sibley also received their 50 year medals from the Grand Master. A highlight of the event was a triple play for Blazing Star Eureka’s Chaplain, Worshipful Brother Alvin Davis, who not only received his 50 year medal from the Grand Master, but was also presented by his Lodge with a cool looking glass trophy honoring his 30 years as Chaplain. Worshipful Brother Davis was also presented with the Major General John Sullivan Award in silver by the Grand Master. Though the sidelines were filled, some estimate that about a quarter of the crowd was comprised of Brother Davis’ family and friends.
