Grand Lodge of NH to Participate in Cornerstone Laying
For
The Bicentennial Anniversary of the NH State Capital

This year the State of New Hampshire will begin a three year Bicentennial celebration of the building and completion of the New Hampshire State House. The NH State House is one of the few state capitals in the country where the Representatives still meet in its original chambers.

The Grand Lodge of New Hampshire, F&AM has been asked to participate with State officials in a re-enactment of the cornerstone laying at the State House on Saturday, September 24, 2016.  The Grand Master and Grand Lodge Line Officers will perform the Masonic cornerstone ceremony as part of the morning’s activities.

All New Hampshire Freemasons are encouraged to attend. We would ask all interested brethren to arrive by 9:00am in Eagle Square, the plaza between Storrs St. garage and North Main St., across from the State House, on the east side of the street. A map of Concord, NH has been provided for your reference.

The Ceremony begins at 10:00am with a color guard, followed by horse drawn cart containing the cornerstone and the procession of brethren. The group will process straight across North Main St., through the arch in front of the State House, directly up the walkway to the steps of the State House and form on the lawn.

Your ladies or significant others are welcome to attend this public event; though they will not be included in the procession.  They are encouraged to find a place on the State House lawn to watch the event. At the conclusion of the event, ladies can meet back up with their spouses by the large clock at Eagle Square on North Main Street.

Dress:  Tuxedo or Dark Suit with the full regalia of office.

Parking: Brethren should plan accordingly and carpool as this is Nascar Weekend at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon and Concord will be more busy than usual. There is no metered parking in the City of Concord on weekends so you can park anywhere in the downtown area. There are also two parking garages in close proximity to the State House: one at School St., Durgin Block Parking Garage and one on Storrs St., Capital Parking Garage. Groups using larger vehicles such as buses can park in areas on Storrs St. as well as many large lots on Loudon Road.
