Brother Clement Wayne Libby, Jr. was born at Manchester, New Hampshire on June 19, 1947. He resided in Franklin, New Hampshire and attended public schools there through the 8th grade. He then attended the Tilton School, graduating in May 1965. He was active in sports and played baseball and basketball for the Park and Recreation Department. He played high school football until being injured in 1964. While in school he earned 2 letters in sports. He was also on the track team, participating in the shotput and discus competition, and also played high school basketball. While in high school he held summer jobs working at Wadley Marine on Lake Winnisquam. He was a member of the Franklin Baptist Church.
Brother Libby was active in the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts and attained the rank of Eagle Scout in February 1963. He joined the Order of DeMolay in 1962 and was Junior Councilor in 1964. It was while in DeMolay, attending a dance, that he met his future wife, Sandra Severance.
Brother Libby joined the Naval Reserve while attending the University of New Hampshire. After 2 years, he was activated to full military service in the United States Navy. He was stationed at Newport, Rhode Island for 3 months before being transferred to Cecile Field in Jacksonville, Florida. While stationed there, he returned to New Hampshire and on September 9, 1967 he married Sandra Severance in Laconia. They returned to Jacksonville to finish serving active duty. Brother Libby received a medical discharge in September 1968 and he and Sandy, and their son Scott, who had been born in Florida, returned to live in Laconia, New Hampshire. On his return he worked for various marinas on Lake Winnisquam and Lake Winnipesaukee.
Brother Libby attended Concord Community College, now Hesser College and graduated with a certificate in computer science. He went to work for GTE Sylvania in Woburn Massachusetts. Following the closure of that firm he went to work for Compo Industries in Waltham, Massachusetts and while working there, in 1971 his daughter Jennifer was born. He then joined Software International and stayed there until the early 1980s. For a short time he operated his own business, Libby Associates, until becoming an employee of Travel Master/United Airlines. The company was sold to Vin Net International in Chicago in 1999 and Brother Libby decided to stay New Hampshire. Working as an independent contractor for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company. In 2001 he became the Executive Secretary for the New Hampshire Consistory, A. A. S. R. and is currently employed in that capacity.
Wayne and Sandy have 2 children, Scott R Libby and Jennifer L. Anderson, 3 grandchildren and a step grandson. Scott and his wife, Lori, have 2 children, Julia and Valerie Libby. Jennifer has one son, Brian Anderson, and a stepson Matthew McPherson. Wayne was a committee member and served as chairman of the Cub Pack #425 while his son, Scott, was a Cub Scout and Sandy was a Den Mother. Brother Libby enjoyed watching children sporting events, including Little League, Babe Ruth, CYO basketball and horseback riding. He and Sandy were active participants in the Welcome Wagon program in Nashua.
Brother Libby was made a Mason and Rising Sun Lodge No. 39, F & AM of Nashua. He received the Entered Apprentice degree on January 24, 1979; was passed to the degree of Fellowcraft on February 21, 1979; and raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason March 28, 1979. He served as the Lodge’s Worshipful Master in 1988 and 1989.
He is a member of all of the Scottish Rite bodies in the Valley of Nashua. He is a Past Thrice Potent Master of Aaron P. Hughes Lodge of Perfection; a Past Sovereign Prince of Oriental Council, Princes of Jerusalem; a Past Most Wise Master of St. George Chapter of Rose Croix; and is currently serving as 2nd Lieutenant Commander of the New Hampshire Consistory. He was a recipient of the Meritorious Service Award. Brother Libby was coroneted an Honorary Member of the Supreme Council, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite for the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction of the United States of America, 33rd degree on September 24, 1994 in Cleveland, Ohio.
Brother Libby is also a member of all of the York Rite bodies in Nashua; Meridian Sun Chapter No. 9, Royal Arch Masons; Israel Hunt Council No. 8, Royal and Select Masters; and St. George Commandery.
He is a member of Bektash Temple, Ancient Arabic Order, Nobles of the Mystic Shrine and served as Director for 14 years. He now holds the title of Director Emeritus.
He is a member of Pilgrim Chapter No. 55, Order of the Eastern Star and is a recipient of the DeMolay Legion of Honor.
Brother Libby served as District Education Officer for the 2nd Masonic District in 1992; District Deputy Grand Lecturer for the 2nd Masonic District in 1996 and 1997 and as District Deputy Grand Master in 1998 and 1999. On November 11, 1992, for service to his Lodge and Grand Lodge he was awarded the Major General John Sullivan Distinguished Service Medal in bronze and on May 18, 2007 he was awarded New Hampshire Freemasonry’s highest award, the Jeremy Ladd Cross Medal.
Brother Clement Wayne Libby, Jr., was appointed to the Grand Lodge progressive line by Most Worshipful Brother Jeremy J. Sawyer on May 20, 2000. He progressed through the line, and on May 16, 2009, he was elected and installed as the 112th Grand Master of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of the Ancient and Honorable Fraternity of Free and Accepted Masons of the State of New Hampshire.
