Beautiful music filled the room at Horace Chase Lodge in Boscawen, as the Lodge was transformed into a music hall, for an evening of entertainment, with renowned guitarist Richard Smith, and his wife Julie Adams. The couple performed to a packed house, as Masons, their friends and family spent an amazing evening with these two brilliant musicians. Richard Smith is an accomplished guitar player, recognized by guitar greats like Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed, as one of the most talented players in the world. Richard has a unique style; coupled with his equally talented wife, they make music which sounds larger than the two people on the stage. The crowd applauded wildly after each of the couple’s musical selections. From Cole Porter, to the Beatles they performed flawlessly!
The concert was made possible by the hard work of Brother Karl Olson, who arranged the booking. He also helped coordinate the event with a great deal of help from a number of lodge members who transformed the Lodge room into a perfect music venue. Worshipful Master, Joseph Hardy said, “They say music is a universal language, so we decided that bringing music to the Lodge was an excellent way to reach out to the community, and bring people to a masonic lodge, who might otherwise never have visited. It was such a success that we will be doing this again!”
It was a true family event with children and grandchildren in attendance. And everyone was having a great time. Brother John Moore helped coordinate a buffet style pot luck supper…and the food was delicious. Said Moore, One thing you never need to worry about at our lodge is food…we just don’t want anyone to leave hungry.”
Horace Chase Lodge #72 F. & A. M., located in Penacook, meets on the third Thursday of each month (except in July and August) at the Masonic Temple in Boscawen. Worshipful Master Joseph Hardy reminds all who have an interest in joining the fraternity…to be one, ask one!
