On April 22, 2018, Winnipisaukee Lodge celebrated the Masonic anniversaries of several Brethren. After receiving Most Worshipful Brother John E. Lobdell and his suite, three special ladies in attendance were introduced. Worshipful Brother Jim Matarozzo then presented 25 year pins to Worshipful Brother Danny Johnson and Brother Tom Alden, and a 40 year pin to Brother Franklin Alden Jr. The presentations then moved to the 50 year Veterans, and Most Worshipful Lobdell presented 50 year medals to Brother David Hayden, Brother Wendell Beck, and Worshipful Brother Robert Witham.
There are 7 Brethren in Winnipisaukee Lodge who share the surname Alden, and all are related. Bros. Tom and Frank Alden had already received their medals, and M ∴ W ∴ Lobdell asked all those who were part of the Alden Clan to assemble in the East, which included Worshipful Brother John Alden, Chaplain. M ∴ W ∴ Lobdell spoke of all the Aldens over the years, and how Bro. Tom Alden’s father had received a Major General Sullivan Award in the past. He then said there would now be two of those awards in the name of Alden, and presented Bro. Tom Alden with the Major General John Sullivan award.
The last award given out was a 60 year certificate to Brother Roger Leighton Jr., who is related to Bro. Tom Alden through marriage.
After M ∴ W ∴ Lobdell closed the Lodge, all retired down to the dining hall for a collation and good conversation.
